Preparing for Your Research

In order to best prepare for your visit to the Metro Archives, it is recommended that you come with an idea of what kinds of records you are searching for. You do not need to make an appointment in advance, but it is recommended that you call ahead and let us know what sort of research you are doing. This way, Metro Archives staff can pull materials for you ahead of time, giving you more time to research.

To get some ideas of what kind of research materials you may need, please take a look at our Most Frequently Requested Records.

We also have recommendations for researchers beginning genealogy research or historic house research.

you may also request a copy of your marriage license online.
