About Donelson Branch

The Donelson Branch opened in 1966. When this branch was built, the Donelson community was called the largest unincorporated town in the country. The site was chosen and the building designed to be functional to serve the growing population for many years.

A New Beginning

A new Donelson Branch, pictured below, is in the planning stages for the Donelson Plaza development. The 2–story library will be approximately 25,000 square feet and feature a mid-century design on the interior and exterior.

We're targeting LEED Gold Certification with this new build. The energy efficient building will have solar panels, geo thermal heating and cooling, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Outside the building you'll find pet–friendly hydration stations, outside seating, bike racks, and a large green space on the south side of the building. Parking will be below the branch with minimal surface parking.

Community members will be able to take advantage of a large multi-purpose room for community gatherings, a designated creative children’s area, a designated teen area, private study rooms, and seating and study tables throughout the library.
