About Pruitt Branch Library

The building which houses the Pruitt Library Branch was originally a fire hall. It opened as a library in 1993, occupying an area of 2,315 square feet. It is named for the state legislator Charles W. Pruitt and his wife, Mary, who also served from the 58th district.

In December 1996, the library was expanded to include Pruitt Homework Center. An additional 7,580 square feet were added in 1998, bringing the total footage to 12,210 square feet.

Many of Pruitt's patrons are from the Sudekum and J.C. Napier housing projects. They come to the library to get help with homework, tutoring in adult literacy, and to use the computers.

We greatly depend on dedicated volunteers to help both children and adult patrons. If you would like to  become a volunteer, please contact Pruitt Branch for more information.
